Important – Entering Indonesia
For athletes who are eligible for the Indonesian Visa on Arrival (VoA), the Indonesian Immigration authorities recommend using the B1 Visa on Arrival. The VoA can be obtained in two ways:
Obtaining Your VoA
1. E-VoA before travelling
You can apply and pay online through the official Indonesian Immigration website: Official Indonesian e-Visa website
The e-VoA costs IDR 500,000 and gives an initial stay of 30 days from the date of arrival. The e-VoA should preferably be arranged before travelling. Your passport details must be entered exactly as they appear in your passport.
2. Visa on Arrival at the airport
If you prefer, eligible nationalities can obtain the VoA upon arrival at Ngurah Rai International Airport, Bali. The cost is also IDR 500,000.
You should have:
- Passport valid for at least 6 months
- Return or onward ticket
- Accommodation/address details in Indonesia
Please note that not every nationality is eligible for VoA. If your nationality is not on the Indonesian VoA list, please contact the LOC before travelling so we can make sure you have the correct visa. This is particularly important for anyone travelling with a passport that is not eligible for VoA.
Staying longer than 30 days
The B1 VoA can be extended once for another 30 days, giving a maximum total stay of 60 days. For e-VoA holders, the extension can be processed online. The extension should be arranged before the original 30-day stay expires. The current immigration fee for the extension is IDR 500,000. Please do not wait until your visa has expired. Overstaying can result in a fine of IDR 1,000,000 per day and potentially further immigration action.
Indonesian Customs / Arrival Declaration
Indonesia requires passengers arriving from overseas to declare their luggage and goods to Customs. Indonesia is currently using the All Indonesia arrival declaration system, which combines:
- Immigration
- Customs declaration
- Health declaration
- Quarantine
The declaration is free of charge. You can complete it online from 3 days before your arrival in Indonesia: All Indonesia – Official Arrival Declaration
After completing the declaration, you will receive a QR code. Save it on your phone and have it ready when you arrive.
What information do you need?
You should have:
- Passport details
- Flight information
- Indonesian accommodation/address
- Information about the goods and luggage you are bringing into Indonesia
Important – declare what you are bringing
Please answer the Customs questions truthfully. If you are carrying items that need to be declared, declare them. Do not assume that expensive or professional equipment is automatically exempt.
For the photographers and videographers in particular, please keep a clear list of your camera bodies, lenses, housings, strobes, lights, computers and other professional equipment that you are travelling with.
If Customs asks about your equipment, simply explain that it is your personal/professional photographic equipment being brought temporarily for participation in the World Championship.
Personal goods allowance
Indonesia provides a personal-goods customs allowance of USD 500 per passenger. If the value of imported personal goods exceeds the applicable allowance, Customs may assess import duties and taxes.
Do not make any payment to third-party websites claiming to process the Customs Declaration. The official electronic Customs/arrival declaration is free.
Before You Fly – Checklist
- ☐ Passport valid for at least 6 months
- ☐ Return/onward flight ticket
- ☐ Correct Indonesian visa / VoA for your nationality
- ☐ E-VoA saved on your phone, if applicable
- ☐ All Indonesia arrival declaration completed
- ☐ All Indonesia QR code saved on your phone
- ☐ Hotel/accommodation address available
- ☐ Copies of your flight details
- ☐ Insurance documents
- ☐ Championship registration confirmation
- ☐ List of photographic/video equipment, especially if carrying substantial professional equipment
Please use only official Indonesian government websites for visa and arrival procedures.
If anyone is unsure about which visa they need because of their nationality, passport type, length of stay or travel circumstances, please contact the LOC before travelling. We would rather check it in advance than have a problem at the airport.
